UPDATED APRIL 12th
Dear camp families,

We are so excited for this upcoming summer. We are looking forward to once again opening our doors and welcoming the kids of our community to the best summer of their life. This past year has been hard on each and every one of us and it is our desire to help you kids make up for lost time by giving them an experience they’ll never forget.

As we are slowing approaching the start of camp, we wanted to give you an update on our plans for how we will be will handling COVID. Camp is still two months away, so a lot could change and if the past year has taught us anything it is that the future is impossible to predict. However, knowing that this is an evolving situation, these are our plans as of today.

  1. As stated before, we have chosen to lower our number of campers extensively by cutting our team sizes by a third. This will give us the opportunity to distance our individual teams and better spread-out campers throughout our beautiful campus.
  2. For our older camp (2nd-8th grade), they will function like pods. This means that they will not be distanced within their team, but the teams will be distanced from each other. When teams are doing individual indoor activities (crafts, playing in various game rooms, snack, etc.) they will be with just their team. Whenever there is an “all camp” activity (such as morning & afternoon rally, Straight Street Idol, etc.) the teams will be distanced from the other teams.
  3. Our younger camp, Straight Street Jr. (K3-1st), will not require our kids to be distanced, but most of the day they are distanced from the other teams as they have their own team rooms and do many of their indoor activities with just their team.
  4. With the decline in COVID cases in Alabama and the lifting of statewide bans, we are making masks optional for all campers.
  5. Finally, we will be adopting a more rigorous cleaning routine throughout the day to ensure that camp is as safe as possible. This will include wiping down surfaces between teams and hiring a cleaning crew to clean and disinfect all camp rooms each night.

We look forward to this summer and can’t wait to be together again. See you soon!
